We want to ensure that our partners are able to run their short courses successfully and give learners the best possible experience. To help do so, we’ve shared a few data insights* below on the effects course length has on course success, specifically on performance and enrolments.
Performance and course length
In general, courses with an even number of weeks perform better than their odd number counterparts (i.e. 2 week courses perform better than 1 week courses, 4 week courses perform better than 3 week courses).
Enrolments and course length
- In terms of enrolments, 4, 6 and 8 week courses generally generate more enrolments, and specifically paid enrolments, per course than any other. This includes upgrade and Unlimited enrolments.
- 4 week courses make up 30.9% of the total course portfolio, but 40.2% of all enrolments.
- On average, 8, 6 and 5 week courses generate more GMV per course than any other.
Ultimately the optimal course length depends on the course category and desired outcome but as a general rule of thumb, partners are encouraged to create courses that run for 4, 6 or 8 weeks.
*Data was taken from all currently live, listed short courses that were not part of a microcredential, ExpertTrack or a sponsored access course.
