Learners discover Microcredentials in three ways: from discovery course cards, Course Description Pages or marketing (including lead generation).
The Course Description Page (CDP) contains detailed information such as accreditation, endorsement, syllabus, and the educators. Our Copywriters write the copy on the CDP, using the information you provide in the Microcredential proposal, and optimise it for SEO.
We recommend that Microcredentials open for enrolment (the CDP is published with start date) 12 weeks before the course start date.
1. Discovery course cards
The Microcredentials and programs page lists all of the available Microcredentials on FutureLearn.
Course cards display basic information including the number of courses, duration, and level of study. They also list the first additional partner organisation (co-creator, endorser, accreditor). The discovery course cards are populated automatically from the Course Description Page and go live when the CDP is published.
2. Course Description Page (CDP)
Microcredential CDPs cannot be previewed before the microcredential has been published.
Header and details
The header displays all the relevant information at a glance including the enrolment deadline for the upcoming run.
An urgency banner appears when the enrolment deadline or start date is within two weeks.
Career advice page link
By linking to one of our career advice pages in Course Creator, relevant industry statistics are pulled through and displayed next to the Microcredential description. This section will not appear if a career advice page isn't linked.
Skills and learning outcomes
Up to 12 skills can be added to the Microcredential Description Page. These should be short and widely applicable.
Learning outcomes are free text but always displayed as a bulleted list.
The requirements section has two parts, both drawn from the proposal form and reviewed by a Copywriter:
1. Are you eligible for this microcredential?
Featuring any requirements to join the microcredential.
2. Is this microcredential right for you?
Giving further information on whether the Microcredential is right for the learner.
A breakdown of what the Microcredential will cover course by course. The before and after learning sections will be reviewed by a Copywriter. Course information is taken from the individual courses.
A weekly breakdown, showing week titles and activity titles, descriptions and images, will automatically display here once this content is ready and has been checked by our learning technologists.
Further information for learners
List of credits the Microcredential offers, certificates plus any extra information such as recognition of prior learning or any restrictions on the credits.
Your organisation and educators
University key stats include year established, location, rank number and year.
Start dates and enrolment deadlines for upcoming runs. Learners can enrol on whichever upcoming run is most suitable for them.
We promote Microcredentials to our existing learners, with a targeted strategy for each Microcredential. Our strategy includes optimising for SEO, email marketing campaigns, and social media promotion.
We make use of our inbound marketing strategy, surfacing engaging and ‘sticky’ content to drive engagement and conversion. We adapt this content from the course and repurpose it to suit different mediums (eg visuals, infographics, polls, videos, editorial).
Lead generation form
The form collects information including first and last name, email address, telephone number, and country of residence.
