Lead Generation is a cost-effective way of capturing warm and targeted leads. Your FutureLearn course learners can choose to provide their contact information during the course - via a simple data capture form.
These leads can be used as part of recruitment activity; potentially converting into fee paying students for on-campus courses.
Learners on your FutureLearn courses are often highly qualified leads, already interested in your subject, immersed in their learning and want to study further. Lead Generation is an easy and cost-effective recruitment tool to target worldwide learners within your short courses, ExpertTracks or Microcredentials.
Pricing
Lead generation is chargeable either at a flat rate or on a per-lead basis. Speak to your Partnership Manager about using Lead Generation in your courses. See our lead generation pricing for more information. To access this page you must be logged in to the partners site with an address from your partner institution or organisation.
How does it work?
- Within your FutureLearn course(s), we can include a dedicated landing page to showcase relevant offerings that would encourage learners to provide their data. .
- You can drive learners to this page via marketing emails and messaging within steps on your course(s).
- With one click, learners can register their interest, enabling FutureLearn to collect this learner data.
- You can download a CSV file with lead data from Course Creator at a frequency that suits you. This data can be imported into your Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool for follow-up.
- You can contact the learners directly, and convert them into fee-paying students.
Setting up lead generation
Once all details are provided we can set up the tool in around five working days.
1. Confirm lead generation with your Partnership Manager
- Identify pathway paid courses (on-campus or distant learning), or other items to be highlighted.
-
Fill in our lead generation request form. You will need to include:
- the title of the course you wish to showcase.
- Up to 200 words of promotional copy about the course.
- A URL to find out more.
- The name and email address of a designated partner representative who will be downloading the lead generation reports. This individual will be provided with Student Recruitment Representative permission to Course Creator to access the leads.
By default, we ask you to specify whether we should use the image from your FutureLearn partner page or the Course Description Page on the Lead Generation landing page. If you wish to use an alternative, email partnersupport@futurelearn.com and attach a different image 648px wide by 280 high.
Once you've sent the form, Partner Support will set up the page and contact you to provide the Further Learning link. The link will be structured like this:
http://www.futurelearn.com/courses/your-course-slug/[run number]/further-learning
2. Build two steps within your FutureLearn course
- Build two steps in your FutureLearn course to promote your showcased course. We recommend doing this once towards the end of Week 1 and again towards the end of the course.
- There is currently no specific "Lead generation" step type that automatically includes the link. You will need to manually add the link provided by Partner Support to the course content for that step.
3. Schedule up to two marketing emails
- These should contain promotional copy about the showcased course and a "register your interest" button. Follow our guidance on where to find course emails in Course Creator.
- As with our other marketing emails, they will be sent only to learners who have opted into marketing communications.
- Submit the emails for approval and email courses@futurelearn.com to confirm when you would like these emails to be sent.
4. Access the leads
- Your Student Recruitment Representative can navigate within the course in Course Creator to the marketing tab (top right hand corner) and select Lead Generation. The number of leads generated; and an option to download leaner data will be available here.
- For any course run, you can export all the leads collected in the last year. The export is updated in real-time as learners register so the latest information can be seen by refreshing the page.
- You can contact the learners directly, and convert them into fee-paying students.
Details included in a lead
Learners must complete three mandatory fields:
- first name
