First, design your ExpertTrack and map out your course outlines.
Then build the weeks, activities, and steps within the short courses in Course Creator as normal. The additional tasks on this page are required to complete the ExpertTrack Course Description Page (CDP) and overall certificates.
Refer to the 5 Stages of Course Development to remind yourself of all the tasks within the build process.
Find your ExpertTrack courses in Course Creator
- Navigate to the ‘programs’ tab.
- Find the name of your ExpertTrack.
- Below the ExpertTrack title is a small table. In the furthest column, click on the hyperlink showing the number of courses.
- This will provide a list of the short courses within the ExpertTrack.
- The order of the courses here is the order they will appear on the Course Description Page.
Input ExpertTrack learning outcomes
You are required to insert learning outcomes into each individual short course and the ExpertTrack shell.
The learning outcomes should be different for each individual short course and a summary of these provided for the ExpertTrack CDP.
- Navigate to the ‘programs’ tab, to find your ExpertTracks.
- Select ‘edit program’ beneath the course title.
- Scroll down and select the pink button ‘manage learning outcomes’.
- Select the appropriate active verb from the drop-down.
- Insert the full learning outcome (including active verb) into the space provided.
- Click save. They will begin to appear at the bottom of the page.
- Use the back button to return to the ET shell.
ExpertTrack course image
Either:
- supply us with the course image for your ExpertTrack to appear on the Course Description Page We will reformat the image for all areas of the FutureLearn site and devices.
- or our Media Specialists can find an image for you through our licensed stock image accounts such as Getty etc. If you indicate on your short course proposals that you do not have any images for the short courses, we will assume you also require an ExpertTrack course image.
Course educators
If you would like the course educators to appear on the ExpertTrack CDP:
- navigate to the ‘programs’ tab, to find your ExpertTracks
- scroll down to the pink button ‘program educators’
- select the name of the educator from the drop-down menu
- to appear in the drop-down the educator must be assigned a role within the team tab of the short courses and have accepted the email invitation for that role
- before adding the educator profile to the ExpertTrack CDP confirm that the educator has populated their profile with their photo and bio. Incomplete profiles are removed.
Third-party organisations
If you would like the logo of an external organisation to appear on the ExpertTrack and short course CDPs please supply us with the information requested on our Collaborating Organisation page.
ExpertTrack certificates
Before your ExpertTrack is confirmed for Quality Assurance review populate and submit certificate information for each individual component short course, and the ExpertTrack as a whole. Organisation admin permissions are required to populate certificates.
- Navigate to the ‘programs’ tab, to find your ExpertTracks.
- Select ‘edit program’ beneath the course title.
- Scroll down to the ‘end of course’ section.
- Select ‘edit achievement information’ button.
- Insert a brief description of the ExpertTrack, subjects covered, and what skills learners demonstrated. Maximum 300 characters including spaces.
- Insert the name, title, and organisation name of at least one signatory (primary).
- Upload their signature. Follow these signature instructions.
- It is optional to insert a concise CV description. This includes what learners have learned in the course. Write it in past tense and first-person singular. This will appear on the learner-facing ExpertTrack achievement page under the heading 'showcase your skills'.
- It is optional to choose up to 4 short courses that are similar to and more advanced in level than this ExpertTrack. If selected, these will appear on the learner-facing ExpertTrack achievement page under the heading ‘continue learning’.
- Select ‘save achievement information’ at the bottom of the page.
- You will return to the main page. Under the ‘end of course’ title there will now be a pink button to ‘preview PDF’ certificate. You may be prompted to join the ExpertTrack, you will not need to pay to preview it.
