We are delighted to announce a new development in the FutureLearn offering. In partnership with leading tech and research company, Viblio, we have built a new enterprise offering: FLx.
What is FLx?
Powered by Viblio’s intuitive AI algorithms, FLx delivers personalised learning experiences. Based on information provided by users including job role, individual skills needs and interests, and enriched through AI-powered skills interview and assessment tools, FLx builds customised learning playlists. These playlists feature FutureLearn content, and are supplemented with content from the world’s leading providers, including Coursera and Udemy, as well as other curated, free-to-access content to further enrich learning experiences.
With features like its AI-powered career coach, Strengths Profile and the Future Skills Assessment all on one easy-to-use digital platform, employees will receive tailored content recommendations and learning playlists while management and HR can view learning data, close or prevent skills gaps in real time and shape learning and development for business success.
How it works
Businesses are able to:
- Customise their learning experiences with intuitive add-ons
- Create and share company content collections
- Analyse learning data to transform L&D
Employees can:
- Access expert content by skill or subject
- Create, share and join content collections
- Complete a Strengths Profile to future-proof their skills
- Work with Leo to create personalised learning playlists
- Watch their recommended content, and skills, evolve in real time
What makes FLx different?
Bringing the best of a learning experience platform (LXP) and a leading educational content provider, FLx delivers a personalised one-of-a-kind learning experience.
As one of the central features, the FLx Strengths Profile video interview is designed to create a snapshot of an employee’s strengths, weaknesses and the skills to develop both. It uses an AI-driven machine learning engine developed in line with the American Psychological Association (APA)’s standards and is based on the Big Five model (which assesses extraversion, friendliness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to new experiences).
Pulling from a database of 70,000+ careers, the AI-powered career coach, Leo, is equipped with natural language processing (NLP) technology to effectively respond to an employee's career needs and support them on their career development journey.
Using diversified AI models, FLx’s technology means that it can constantly improve its content recommendations to meet the needs of the modern workforce, empowering both employees and businesses around the world.
How it’s already transforming businesses
The technology behind FLx has already transformed businesses across Europe, such as manufacturer Pittini who saw:
- A recovery of £127k+ in managerial time, solely based on the automation of tailored learning paths.
- A 97% onboarding completion rate.
- An 88% platform adoption rate within the first month in an environment where 80% of employees are in frontline manufacturing roles.
The platform reduced knowledge gaps across plants and shifts, leading to:
- Managers reclaiming 150+ hours, redirecting focus to coaching, team performance and strategic priorities.
- Employees reaching productivity milestones, directly impacting operational efficiency and revenue.
- Self-reliant teams who solve everyday problems, without needing constant managerial intervention.
- Personalised, on-demand learning used proactively for career and personal development.
What does this mean for partners?
Pilot schemes of the platform have shown a significant increase in engagement and utilisation of content. As a valued FutureLearn partner, we’re excited to be able to offer you this more effective and profitable route to market.
As valued content partners, your courses will play an integral role in helping businesses transform their L&D strategies. By aligning your content with specific and personal skills needs, we aim to increase the uptake and engagement with all our partner content. This powerful needs/solution alignment will mean learners are presented with exactly the content that meets their development needs, and are motivated and encouraged to engage with your content.
FLx’s rich data collection means we will also be able to help you to understand emerging and growing skills needs, and work with you to identify and co-create new content to target those needs.
We will continue to offer our millions of individual (B2C) learners access to the traditional FutureLearn platform, meaning you, and all our partners, will benefit from the new market access FLx offers, whilst retaining, and supporting, our individual, self-funding learners.
From enabling employees to accelerate their professional development and giving businesses the tools to close skills gaps and build more efficient ways of working, we believe that FLx will be transformational for employees, businesses and partners, and we’re excited to see what’s next.
