With the FutureLearn Lead Generation Service, you can convert learners on your courses into fee-paying students easily and cost-effectively. Whether you’re recruiting for undergraduate, postgraduate or short courses, on campus or online, we can deliver highly qualified leads – learners who are already interested in your subject and want to study further.
How does it work?
Within your course(s), we can include a dedicated landing page to showcase your paid-for course or similar promotion. This could be an online, blended or on-campus course.
You can then drive learners to this page via marketing emails and messaging within steps on your course(s). With one click, learners can register their interest in your paid-for course or similar promotion.
We pass their names and email addresses on to you, which you are free to use to contact the learners directly, and convert them into fee-paying students.
To use the Lead Generation service, we will charge you a fee payable on a per-lead or flat rate basis.
Are you interested in including Lead Generation in one or more of your courses? Please contact your Partnership Manager.

How do we get access to the Lead Generation service?
The tool will need to be switched on by your Partnership Manager.
Adding the lead generation tool to your courses is then quick and easy. With the help of your Partnership Manager you just need to follow these simple steps:
- Send your Partnership Manager up to 200 words of promotional copy for the Further Landing page, the title of the course you wish to showcase and a URL for learners to read more about the course. They will do the rest.
- Set up a step towards the end of Week 1 and another towards the end of the course to promote your showcased course.
- Schedule up to two marketing emails on the platform and submit them for your Partnership Manager to approve.
You might like to add links to the lead capture page in other places as well, such as the welcome area and other relevant steps.
What is displayed on the Further Learning landing page?
The following assets are used on the landing page, which will showcase your paid-for course or similar promotion:
- Details of the course you wish to showcase - the title, URL for learners to read more about it and promotional copy of up to 200 words about the course
- An image for the page (648px wide by 280 high) - we will use the image from your FutureLearn Partner page, or you can provide an alternative image if you wish
- Your logo in .SVG format (white, transparent background). We will usually already have this on the platform
- Thank you message (optional)
Following these is a short form where learners will input their details.
How will this reach learners?
The Further Learning page will be linked to in two course steps. One towards the end of Week 1 and a second towards the end of the course. The step will display a Register your interest button, which takes learners to the Further Learning page. Here they can input their details and the lead will be recorded.
Two marketing emails will also be sent from the platform, one half way through the course and one towards the end. These will contain the promotional copy about the showcased course and a Register your interest button. Clicking this will take learners to the Further Learning page where they can input their details and the lead will be recorded.
How do we get access to our leads?
When setting up the Lead Generation tool, we will ask you to provide the name and email address of a designated partner representative who will be downloading the lead generation reports. This role is referred to as the Student Recruitment Representative and will be given the appropriate platform permissions to access the leads.
Your Student Recruitment Representative will then be able to access the leads by navigating to the course and clicking on the Marketing tab:
And then clicking on Lead Generation:
This will display information on the number of leads generated, as well as a Download learners’ details button which gives access to the leads. For any course run, you will be able to export all the leads collected in the last year. The export is updated in real time as learners register so the latest information can be seen by refreshing the page.
Who do we contact about using Lead Generation?
When submitting a new course idea and you would like to use the lead generation please indicate so in the form. If you would like to use the tool for a run of an existing course please talk to your partnership manager.
