At FutureLearn, we continually make improvements to our platform to offer a better experience for our learners and to ensure that we continue to grow our traffic and enrolments to your courses. As part of those improvements, we are beginning a project to review existing course description pages to bring them in line with the latest SEO practices in order to rank better in Google.
Our new SEO process
Over the last 6 months, we have developed a new set of processes and standards to improve the search engine optimisation (SEO) of your course description pages before they go live. This process includes:
- More rigorous keyword research
- Inclusion of keyword-rich titles and subheadings
- Inclusion of longer course descriptions
- Focus on learning outcomes
- Clearer description of the course contents and benefits
All of these changes work together to ensure that your course description page has the best chance of ranking well on Google and attracting organic traffic and enrolments to your course.
These changes will take place across the platform over the coming months, and will ultimately offer you the opportunity to gain:
- Higher Google rankings
- Higher organic enrolment figures
- More engaged learners
- Lower bounce rates
Updating existing course description pages
In order to extend those benefits to the rest of our course description pages, our SEO team will be reviewing existing course description pages and rewriting those pages based on the new process if they identify ranking opportunities that have previously been missed.
Opting out of the course description page project
Due to the scope and extent of these changes, our team will be making them directly to the course description pages following SEO and online copywriting best practices.
If you would like to speak to someone to understand more about the project, please inform your Partnership Manager before 30th November.
We look forward to working on your pages, and letting you know about the impact this project has had once it’s completed.
